12 Nov 2010 yippee-ki-yay melon farmer
Here’s Rok Predin’s latest project, we worked with Sam at Treatment Studios to create a back projection sequence to go behind the country singer Keith Urban’s performance of his track “put you in a song” at this year’s Country Music Awards in Nashville. This had a very quick turnaround, we produced three and a half minutes of animaton in twelve days straight, there were lots of late evenings but the end of the project the studio resembled a warzone. Compositing was by Rok Predin, Luca Paulli, Rob Ward and Layla Atkinson. Artworking was by Anita Leung, Yasmeen Fanari and Ginevra Boni.

ABCdoublespeak
ABCDoublespeak is a reminder of the evil and grotesque nature of the words used to describe violence in our world. This new dictionary does not have a filter and unveils the reality behind these words, which are masked by a positive image within the public media. Synchronized to the popular song ‘the ABCs’, which children use to learn their alphabet, ABCDoublespeak reads between the lines and shows how innocents and facts can be distorted by warfare and armed conflict. Using traditional animation, pixilation and motion graphics, this video creates a new song, ‘Our Modern Times ABC,’ that children from war-ravaged communities sing too many times and know all too well.

“Desperella”, 2010
The endless search for “Prince Charming”, and the hope of finding him before it’s too late, is what animates “Desperella” in this one minute short.
This was the third project of my 2010 MA in Illustration and Animation at Kingston University, and the brief was the “recreation of an old text”.
